Pixstock: A Custom WordPress and WooCommerce Website for AI Stock Images

Selling digital images is different from selling products that ship in a box. Visitors need to search a large library, compare sizes and get their files right after checkout. When a store has requirements like these, a ready-made theme can only take it so far.

That was the thinking behind Pixstock, a new website we designed and built from the logo up. Pixstock is a library of more than 5,000 AI-generated stock images for websites, ads, social media and presentations.

What we built

  • A custom WordPress theme: designed and coded for this project, so the layout is built around the images.
  • WooCommerce: powers the store, including the cart, checkout and customer accounts, with card payments processed by Stripe.
  • Custom plugins: manage image browsing, product pages and downloads, which are the parts of the site that make it work as a stock image library.
  • Logo design: a simple mark that combines a rounded letter "p" with a bright blue star.

How the site works

Visitors can browse the full library or start from popular topics such as seasons, holidays and everyday scenes. Each image has its own page with a description, tags, license details and related images.

Every image comes in three sizes. Small is free, Medium costs $4 and Large costs $6, so visitors can pick the size that fits their project. No account is required. Buyers only need to give their name and email at checkout, and their download links appear right away on the confirmation page and in an email.

Previews carry a watermark, while the downloaded files are clean. Each image is labeled as AI-generated, and each page includes a link for reporting a mistake in an image.

Why a custom website made sense

WordPress and WooCommerce provide a proven foundation for managing content, orders and payments. A custom theme and plugins add what's specific to the business. For Pixstock, that means a site built around how people find and download images, rather than a general store template adapted to the job.

Pixstock also shows the value of having one team handle both the brand and the website. The logo and the site came from the same designers and developers, so the project didn't need to be split between separate vendors.
